unidsk vs Zendesk

Flexible enough to build this yourself. Just not built in.

Zendesk is a genuinely powerful platform — custom objects, a mature API, a large partner ecosystem. You could model equipment as a custom object and wire up triggers to approximate what unidsk does. It's real engineering work, on every account, maintained forever — not a feature that ships.

The honest verdict

Zendesk's flexibility is real — if you have the implementation budget and an admin who owns custom-object configuration long-term, you can get partway to asset-linked tickets. Most MSPs and AMC providers in the 20–500 agent range we build for don't have that budget or that admin. Unidsk ships the asset link, the contract-aware SLA and the repeat-failure detection as the product, not as a project.

Choose unidsk if

  • You want asset-linked, contract-aware tickets on day one — not a six-month build
  • You don't have a dedicated Zendesk admin to own custom-object configuration
  • Your business is specifically servicing other companies' equipment

Zendesk is still right if

  • You're a large, complex support org with the budget to build exactly what you need
  • You need enterprise-grade omnichannel and a mature partner ecosystem
  • Asset-linkage is one of many custom workflows you're already engineering
